FAQ

Purchasing Prints

PDF Print E-mail

Limited Edition prints differ from mass-produced posters and prints in that the copies sold will not exceed the cap set by the artist. Collectors value this type of print because the artist is involved in the process, assuring that the piece maintains the integrity of the original art. Conversely with mass produced art, there can be a wide range in printing quality.

Another difference is that limited edition prints are each personally numbered and signed by the artist. Prints will be sold in order with the number of the copy designated on the print. For example the first print out of 150 total copies is designated “1/150.” This is often done on the white paper outside the image area. Signature styles may vary among guest artists on this site.

Framing and Care of Art Prints

PDF Print E-mail

The prints featured on this website are produced at a quality level that will last many years if they are properly framed and cared for.

If you are buying “off the shelf” supplies to frame your print, be sure all products are archival quality. Choose products that are free of acid and lignin, which can cause brown edges on the print and mat over time. If you are working with a framer, request that they use archival materials (mat, backing material, tape, and so on). Since shipping materials are not always acid free, please discard them shortly after you receive your print.

All prints should be matted and framed with glass to protect them from dust and other elements. To keep a print true to the original color, you can select glass that keeps your art from fading. In addition to using UV resistant glass, it’s wise to hang artwork away from bright lights and direct sunlight.

Matting will make your print look great, and will protect it by keeping the glass from touching the print surface.  Since the print and framing materials are organic, they need to breathe, expanding and contracting with humidity levels. “Hinge” the print from the top side with acid free tape, either on the back of the mat or directly on the backing material. We do not recommend spraymount or gluing your print to a backing material.

Select a place to hang your art, avoiding extreme conditions. With protective framing, archival materials, and a good location, you will enjoy your art print for many years.
